The White Knight Foundation is a health promotion charity working toward the prevention of the multiple (and often life-long) health issues suffered by victims of child sexual abuse (CSA). These can include depression, PTSD, hormonal and gynaecological problems, and increased incidence of drug and alcohol abuse, to name but a few.

Adopting the philosophy that it is better to place a fence at the top of the cliff, rather than an ambulance at the bottom, we aim to develop approaches to address this issue at its core; within the family environment where the vast majority of CSA occurs. Our research identified the key issue as being the need to Overcome Denial of Child Sexual Abuse, an enormous challenge, and one that will require creativity, perserverence and long term funding in order to make progress.

Unfortunately it has proven extremely difficult to attract interest and external funding for work related to the prevention of CSA and it's effects. In our society, Governments are elected based upon popular policy, therefore government spending is generally allocated according to the perceptive impact it will have on voters. CSA is not an attractive, vote winning subject, and what Government funding is available, is invariably allocated to counselling and similar programs to directly support existing adult victims. Similarly, by its nature, todays corporate philanthropist seeks a commercial benefit. So whilst international hamburger chains may reap benefits by promoting their food based products to children via their support of (popular) childrens' charities, there is virtually no business or product who would realize a benefit in being publicly aligned with the misery that is the rape of a child.

Faced with this reality, the Foundation's Directors realized the need to develop internal funding programs, and one's that would, ideally, not be directly related to CSA issues. After investigating many possible options, the first such program sees the Foundation utilising its structure to fulfill a key role in the establishment of private, (non-profit) natural burial grounds. As an independent organization holding permanent leases on land used for natural burial grounds, the Foundation will protect the perpetual burial rights of the deceased and their families.

This opportunity for the Foundation to benefit financially by being part of the 'Greening of the Funeral Industry' was identified by Foundation Director, Kevin Hartley, a funeral director and advocate of the natural burial process. He commented recently on the unusual alignment of CSA with the funeral industry saying, "It seems ironic, and yet somehow appropriate that a physical death may help save a child from the kind of virtual death that results from sexual abuse."

We trust you'll find the information throughout this site of interest, and hope you'll be inspired to share our visions.
